  Hair Routine: Sleek and Straight
good morning world,
This isn't just a food blog. It's an 'everything' blog. Everything I want it to be! Let's talk about HAIR. My hair really pisses me off sometimes. I'm not sure if I'm like the rest of girls (or if the rest of girls are like me?). But, if I'm having a bad hair day... I'm having a bad day. Period. So, here's my daily routine for straight hair. Maybe I'm not doing the best I can, so definitely offer your helpful tips and tricks or maybe I'm doing everything right and you can benefit from something I do. I think I have a pretty normal hair routine, so I'll be very surprised to "liven up" someone else's routine. Enough babbling!

so i wake up and...
I take a shower. I can't not take a shower in the morning. But, if you don't wash your hair daily, this could just be ignored. And yes, I'm sure it's a problem that I get my hair wet up to three times a day... I'm stripping my hair of it's natural oils. But, I feel totally icky if I don't shower at least once before bed and once at night. I try the shower cap once and a while. Whatever works for you. Wash or don't. Anyhow... My favorite shampoo is any shampoo that is for "color treated" hair. Why? Because it claims that it won't strip your hair and this is good for someone who washes up to three times a day.............. I like the claim. Is it true? I dunno. My hair surely isn't straw though, so I'm going to assume it does work and go on living life! Conditioner is really important. Am I right?! So, I use Biolage... the huge bottle (because really, you get more for your money) with the purple writing. It's called hydratherapie and it works absolute magic on your strands! Times are tough though... and that stuff is $25 a bottle. So, I found a more budget friendly conditioner that I can honestly say works extremely well. It's the SunSilk TLC shampoo, pink bottle... perfection! Washing and conditioning my hair is the first thing I do in the shower (I can't stand around with half wet, half dry hair in the shower... it's too long and icky). So, I leave the conditioner in for the remainder of my shower... bathing, relaxing, shaving, whatever. Leave it in as long as possible and try not to put too much on your scalp. Concentrate the majority on your ends... they get the worse treatment.

After I get out of the shower, hair is up in a very loose towel. Don't twist and turn and fold and bend... you'll increase breakage. I just leave the towel on about 5 minutes to get all the excess water out. Now, I'll take it down and run some Chi Silk Infusion or Biosilk Silk Therapy through my strands before blow drying. It makes it silky and managable. I love this stuff! I take a flat brush and blow dry on low heat... it usually takes me 6 minutes for my length/ thickness. Presto! My hair is pretty straight already when it's blown out, so I just get my straightener and smooth it out so it's super straight and silky. Don't forget to use a heat protectant. Do they work? I have no idea, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Just make sure it's heat protectant spray and not the silkener... those are oils and if you put heat to oil, you are frying... you don't want to fry your strands!!! So, now my hair is silky and straight and fly aways can be kept down with a spitz of hair spray. Ta da :-) I bet everyone else does this same thing... am I right?!!

why does my hair appear to be more healthy whenever i apply heat to it...
This is a good question, right? My stylist brought a very logical and clear explanation to my attention. When your hair is all fuzzy and frizzy, of course it's going to look damanaged! Afterall, is that the definition of "damanaged" hair? Well... even curls won't look as soft and shiny as they could be unless you're using a ceramic heated styling tool. So, why? Because when the surface is straight and smooth, it looks shinier because the light bounces right down that hair and shine, shine, shine!

Happy Styling...
