A Tuesday Night Menu...
As I sit here sipping my packet of coco and hot water mixture... I think to myself, this is really a slap in the face to real hot chocolate. The kind that actually has good benefits for the body. Antioxidants, etc. How do I get all the freshness and health benefits from food when I'm constantly on the go? It's been the question on my mind for months... every since I first got into my health kick... The answer is, think a little harder before you grab that next cup of whatever, that next frozen dinner. Do a little more work on the weekends to pack lunches for the week. Use leftover meals to make healthy lunches for the preceeding day... Use that brain power (-:
Now, the main event! The recipe... what's on the menu for tonight? It's going to be the first day of my "cooking my way through a cookbook" activity. (It's an early new year's resolution!) This idea came to me from the movie "Julie and Julia" and as a result of my constant kitchen failures. Really, I'm not that bad. But, it's discouraging. I have a cookbook to follow now, and ideas galore. Stay on track, follow directions... sounds easy!!!
Cooking my way from page one to the end of this cookbook would be ideal, however, who wants soup for 100 pages? That's a lot of nights of soup! So, I'm going to skip around from recipe to recipe... the first one of the section based on what food we want that night. Soups, Sandwiches, Salads, Meatless, Fish/ Shellfish, Meats, and Poultry. There's also weekend menus, which will be perfect for "on the fly" entertaining and get togethers. We've agreed that no matter the recipe, we'll at least try to cook it and like it. Yes, this means eating anchoives if the recipe calls for it. Oh well... Stick with committments, you reach goals!
Tonight we're in the mood for... Hmmm. Any many, miney, mo...
